Digital Minimalism

My thoughts on the book (and concept) of Digital Minimalism:

  • Generally, I rather like the proposed philosophy of “Digital Minimalism”, or deliberate technology use.
  • Some of the comparisons in the book, e.g. with the Amish seem interesting, although maybe positively exaggerated (naturally).
  • Overall, I think my own current social-media usage is manageable. I think there are other aspects mentioned in the book I am more prone to.
  • The book gives helpful suggestions on alternative leisure activities but at times comes across as a bit too preachy.
  • My timing is probably not ideal: Reading a book, telling you to go outside and have a rich social life, during a pandemic where we are now in lockdown for the second extended period within a year, is probably counter-productive.
  • Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes.
